Yoshiii by *Meganii This pixel of an iconic video game character is gorgeously dithered, and while the dithering is visible, it does not make this pixel look any less smooth or complete. The contrasting colours are lovely, and Yoshi's playful expression is true to the character. (

Isn't the white part supposed to be.. the white of his eyes? like... his eyeball? how is his winking? Lol~
But ignore that negative comment that probably got your spirits down (SORRYY D because this is so FREAKIN ADORABLE i love it so much My sister would always be Yoshi when we played Smash bros together on the 64. She would poop me off the stage. DARN YOU KIM!!
This is pretty nice, simple, and cute as Yoshi usually is
I think I can help you though with this edit [link]
I think the main problems in this pixel-art is that it suffers from an indefinite light source. Too many elements of Yoshi's body stand out too much which overall makes it look flat. And so by darkening some parts which are not influenced by the light source you can help make his body look more convincing! And as for anatomy his backside seems a bit too large and bulky, and going completely out to the side, from what the perspective that Yoshi's body suggest is that its facing more towards us and that is why I foreshortened his tail/backside so that his body appears more proportionate. As for the technique used, Yoshi is often seen in many Mario games having smooth skin so the dithering isn't very fitting as it gives a sort of rough plushy sort of texture, I think if you were to revise this I would suggest using more colors and shading with the form in gradation. Here is also another example of shading and the different elements you see: [link] Hope this provides a useful tool for your knowledge, and please don't take this offensively I'm just trying to help.
